Dry Embossed Stencil

Hello and welcome back!
I hope everyone had a good week and can now enjoy the weekend!!
In today's blog, I'm going to show you a simple, yet different look you can get with your stencils. This is a dry emboss technique that uses a stencil and your die cutting machine. This gives a slight raise on your cardstock and adds a little extra touch to your ink blending with stencils. Let's get started!

The cardstock I will be stenciling on is 80lb Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, I have also chosen Ocean Mist and Soft Stone cardstocks, both from Gina K. Designs and will be using the coordinating inks as well. The stencil I will be using is Thermoweb - Crazy Daisy also from Gina K. Designs. To start, I first line up the stencil on my white panel where I want it to be, flip it over then tape it to the back of the stencil. I use Blender Brushes from Taylored Expressions to first apply the Ocean Mist ink in a circular motion over the stencil onto my panel. Next I add in some Soft Stone ink with a separate blender brush to the center parts of the image.

Leaving the stencil attached to my white panel, I run it through my Big Shot from Sizzix using an embossing mat, (pictured below) I bought from Simon Says Stamp. ***Be sure to look at your die cut machine to see what sandwich order you need when using an embossing mat. After running my panel through my machine, I decided to add a little sparkle to my image. With my panel still attached to the stencil, I lightly misted some Liquid Pixie Dust from Inkon3. I keep a small mist bottle filled with water and a few drops of Pixie Dust on my desk to add sparkle to my cards. I set the panel aside to dry for a few minutes before removing the stencil.

Next, I decided to add a few splatters with a small paintbrush using the same colors I blended with. After everything was dry, I mounted the white panel onto a slightly larger Soft Stone piece of cardstock. I then mounted onto a 4 /14" x 5 1/2" Ocean Mist card base.

I finished off the card with a sentiment from the Tiny Words stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of Soft Stone cardstock and mounted with a thin piece of foam tape.
I also show this card made with Turquoise Sea and Stormy Sky cardstock, both from Gina K. Designs.

I hope you enjoyed today's project and give this technique a try for yourself.  If you have and questions or comments, please leave them in the comment section.
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I will be back on Monday with another fun project!

Happy Stamping!!
Jeannie

Trapped Ink Mandala Stencil

Hello, welcome to my blog!! Today's card project uses the Trapped Ink technique, where you lay down your ink and embossing using clear embossing ink. You then add black ink over the entire image and the ink trapped under the clear embossing shines through. Today, I will be using a stencil that has a lot of detail. Adding black ink over colored ink gives a bright, vivid result. I will be using Gina K. Designs inks, cardstock and products. Let's get started!! I start with a 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" White cardstock square panel. Using Purple Tape , I center and adhere to the back of my Square Mandala Stencil . I flip the stencil over to do some ink blending. Using my Blender Brushes , I start my blending with Pink Passion ink blending at the top left corner, then fading out a little. I then use Wild Dandelion  ink, blending onto the panel and fading out, I also blend back into the previous pink ink to create my orange. The next color I use, is Blue Raspberry  ink. I la...
