Texture Paste W/Stencil

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!

Today I have created a card using one of my favorite stencils along with some texture paste. I am also using the brand new distress oxide ink color, Kitsch Flamingo. This is my first time using this color and I have to say, I love it!! This is a true, beautiful pink color that fits perfectly into the pink hues in the distress collection. Today I pair it with Spun Sugar distress oxide ink and loved the results, these two colors create a smooth seamless blend! To add some texture to my card, I use texture paste over my stencil. I love the free flowing look of this stencil and thought a butterfly die cut would be the perfect pairing for this look. I will be using Distress Oxide Inks for my ink blending as well as stamping for my sentiment. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then take my Blending Brush and begin blending Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide Ink onto the top right corner of my panel and fade out. I then blend Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink, blending back into the previous color and fade out to white around the edges of the panel. Using my Craft Tool I dry the ink on my panel before moving on to the next step.

Taking the Tumbling Leaves Stencil I adhere it over my panel using Mint Tape. I then add some Texture Paste to the top portion of the stencil and pull the paste down the entire panel using my Stencil Pal. I add more paste where needed and smooth it out using the Stencil Pal until I have even coverage over all areas. I then place any unused paste back into the jar then place a piece of Press N Seal over the top before replacing the cover and tightly close. Using Press N Seal before replacing the cap helps to keep the air out, preventing the product from drying out.

I carefully remove the stencil from my panel and remove the tape. I then place the panel aside to dry (approximately 30 - 45 minutes) while I work on the other elements of my card. *I immediately wash the paste off of my stencil and tools using warm soapy water before it dries.

Next, I place a piece of Vellum into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Tool. I then choose an image from the Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set, ink it with Versamark Ink and stamp it onto the Vellum. I add White Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

Taking the coordinating die from the Beautiful Butterflies Die Set, I line it up over my image and hold into place using Purple Tape then run them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine.

Using my Fancy Thanks Die I cut out of White Cardstock three times, running them through my Big Shot. I then stack and glue the die cuts together using Liquid Glue

Now that my panel is completely dry I place a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of White Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score at 4 1/4" creating a side folding card base. Using Double Sided Tape I add it to the back of my panel. Placing the card base into the left corner of my Scor Buddy, I remove the release paper from the tape on my panel. I then place it into the left corner of my Scor Buddy and press it down onto my card base. *Lining up the panel and card base this way is an easy way to line things up evenly when using a full panel card front.

To add a little interest to my card front I press my Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide Ink pad onto my Glass Mat, add a little clean water to it then spatter it over my card front using a small paintbrush. I then add a small amount of white acrylic paint to my Glass Mat and mix with a little water then spatter onto my card front.

I now begin to assemble my card. I start by adding four small pieces of Foam Tape to the back of my butterfly die cut. Because this is a Vellum die cut and I don't want the adhesive to show through, I am careful to add the Foam Tape to the solid white areas of the wings. I add to three corners of the wings and to the body of the butterfly. I do not add it to the lower right wing but instead add Liquid Glue then press the die cut onto my panel at an angle. The reason I add Liquid Glue instead of Foam Tape to the lower right wing is I want to nest my greeting die cut into that area and need the wing to sit behind my greeting. Next, I add Liquid Glue to the back of my stacked die cut greeting and tuck it just under the lower portion of the butterfly.

To create my sentiment I place a scrap piece of White Cardstock into my MISTI and stamp a sentiment from the Million Thanks Stamp Set using Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide Ink. I then use my Guillotine Paper Trimmer to cut a thin sentiment strip. I stack and glue thin pieces of scrap cardstock to the back leaving the end unstacked as this area will lay over my greeting. I add Liquid Glue to the back of the strip and mount it just under my greeting.

To finish I use my Jewel Picker and add Water Droplets with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. I love playing with stencils, there are so many fun ways to use them. With so many options from regular, masking and layering stencils, there is something for everyone!

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
