Forever Flowers Masked Scallop

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!

I am so excited to bring you a card using a stamp set included in the brand new kit from Gina K. Designs that is being released tonight! This is just one of three stamp sets included in the kit. There are also coordinating dies, two beautiful script word die cuts with shadows along with some cardstock! I have been loving these newest word dies and hope Gina continues to bring us more. If you are a fan of stamp kits and have never purchased Gina's kits, I encourage you to check it out! Gina's kits are very popular and you get so much product for the price! These kits can sell out quickly and once they are sold out, they usually aren't restocked. Upon the next kit release these current kit items will be sold separately. There are also several additional illustrator stamp sets being released tonight! Gina will be going live with tonight's release at 7:00 PM CST over on her Facebook page, Gina K Designs & Stamp TV Friends as well as her YouTube Channel if you'd like to follow along. Products from tonight's release will be available for purchase on her website HERE (which is the What's New Category) beginning at 7:00 PM CST. I am again honored to be a guest designer for Gina K. Designs and will be bringing cards made with sets from her new release throughout the month. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start I cut a panel out of White Cardstock using the scallop rectangle die from the Master Layouts 4 Die Set, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I then cut down a 3 3/8" x 4 1/2" piece of Masking Magic using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I remove the release paper and adhere the masking paper over the center of my die cut panel so that only the scallops are exposed.

Using my Blending Brush I blend Bubble Gum Pink Ink onto the top left corner of my panel and fade out a bit on each end of the color. Next, I blend Sweet Mango Ink to the top center of the panel blending back into the previous color a bit and fade out towards the right corner. I then go back with Bubble Gum Pink Ink and blend the top right corner of the panel blending back into the previous color a bit and fade out the other end. I repeat the colors until I reach my first blend. *When joining colors I like to fade out the ends of the blend a little then blend back into the fade with my next color. I feel this eases the blend and avoids harsh blending lines. Once my blending is complete I carefully remove the Masking Magic piece, I now have only the scalloped edges ink blended.

Next, I place a piece of White Cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and stamp two of the smaller flower images from the Forever Flowers Stamp Set using Sweet Mango Ink. To add a little shading, while the two flower stamps are still in my MISTI I add Tangerine Twist Ink around the outer edges of the stamps and stamp them over the previous stamped images.

Taking a bigger flower stamp from the same Forever Flowers Stamp Set I stamp it in Bubble Gum Pink Ink onto my panel. For shading on this image I ink around the outer edges of the stamp with Dusty Rose Ink and stamp it onto the previous stamped image.

Next, I stamp the two leaves and stem images using Jelly Bean Green Ink onto my panel. I then ink the edges of the stamps with Fresh Asparagus Ink and stamp them onto the previous stamped images.

Now that my colored stamping is complete, I line up all of the coordinating outlined image stamps and stamp them over the colored images using Amalgam Obsidian Black Ink. Once the black ink is dry I cut out all of my images with the coordinating dies from the Forever Flowers Die Setrunning them through my Big Shot

I now take the Forever And Shadow Die and cut out of Jelly Bean Green Cardstock three times and the shadow die once out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I stack and glue the green die cuts together using Liquid Glue then glue them onto the shadow die cut.

Next, I place my blended panel into my MISTI and lay out all of my die cut pieces to determine my stamp placement. I choose a sentiment from the Forever Flowers Stamp Set and once I have it lined up I remove the die cut pieces and stamp the sentiment with Amalgam Obsidian Black Ink onto my panel. *I let the black ink dry for a few minutes before assembling.

For added dimension I decided to cut out two more white shadow die cuts and glued them onto the back of my stacked die cuts. Using Liquid Glue I center and mount my stacked die cut just above my sentiment. I then start adhering my die cut pieces onto my panel. I start by adhering the flower stems and one of the leaves using Liquid Glue tucking them just under the edge of my die cut greeting.

Next, I add the smaller flowers and another leaf using Liquid Glue. For the biggest flower I add Foam Tape to the back of it then mount it over the middle stem. I add Liquid Glue to the back of the remaining two leaves then tuck them under the flower.

I now place a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of White Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score it at 4 1/4" creating a side folding card base. I add Foam Tape to the back of my panel and mount it onto the card base.

To finish, I use my Jewel Picker to add a few Dew Drops with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card and get a chance to check out Gina's new release. I used a two-step technique on today's card, however, this would be a great set for Copics, watercolors, colored pencils for coloring techniques, solid ink stamping or even stamping in black and white, the possibilities are endless! I'm sure there will be many Stamp & Chats with Gina using this set! What a fun set to play with... and that word die, oh my!!!!

  3. Thank you for being my inspiration in making cards, and especially for helping me put the Gina K’s products I buy to good use! Your step-by-step tutorials like this one make it stress free and easy! I can add my own touches or not, but still be pleased with the outcome as I am not a naturally artistic person.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words, they mean so much to me! I'm glad you find my blog helpful, I try to be as detailed as I can realizing there may be some just getting started in stamping. I do not make videos at this time so I try to capture each step in photos, kind of like still shot videos! :)

  4. Why did you decide to stamp the outline last? I would have done those first. Card is great!

    1. Thank you Susan!! I tried stamping the outline first then the color. For this card I decided to stamp the color first then the outline, both ways works great!

Shadow Stamping With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog!! ***I wanted to let everyone know that Scrapbook.com has kicked off Freebie February!! Every couple of days they will be offering free items along with great sales! Check often as the sales will be frequently changing. I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
