Tone On Tone Ink Blending W/Stencil

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

Today I have created a tone on tone background using one color of ink along with white pigment ink. This technique creates a beautiful monochromatic look for any card. I kept my card simple by creating a soft vellum sentiment which allows the background to show through. All of the inks, cardstock, stamps and stencil are from Gina K. Designs. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" panel out of White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Using my Blending Brush, I add Passionate Pink Ink around the center of the panel blending lightly and fading out towards the very center. * I like to cut my cardstock similar to the size of the stencil I will be using so I can choose the area I want to cut out for my final panel. You could skip this and start out with the actual size of panel you want to use for the finished card.

I continue blending Passionate Pink Ink around the entire panel, applying a heavier layer of ink around the sides and corners until I am happy with the coverage.

Next, I place my Thick Brush Stencil over my panel and adhere it down to my work surface using Purple Tape. Using a dedicated Blending Brush (that I only use for white pigment ink), I start blending White Pigment Ink over the entire stencil making sure to cover each area of my blended panel. *My blending brush ended up picking up some of the pink ink and turned my white pigment ink pad a soft pink color. To prevent this, I should have smooshed my white ink onto my glass mat and picked up the ink from there. I needed a new white pigment ink pad, so not too upset LOL.

Keeping the stencil attached to my panel, I take a soft cloth and gently buff the pigment ink off of the stencil. I then blend Passionate Pink Ink over random areas of my stencil to create darker ink blends over the pigment ink. My ink blending is now finished and I remove the stencil.

Taking the biggest stitched die from the Master Layouts 2 Die Set I adhere over my panel with Purple Tape and run them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. *I will keep the rest of this panel with my scraps to use on a future card.

Next, I trim a 1" x 5 1/2" strip out of Vellum using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer and place it into my MISTI Stamp Positioner. I prep the Vellum with my Anti Static Powder Bag then stamp a sentiment from the Scripty Love Stamp Set using Versamark Ink. I add White Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

To attach the Vellum to my panel I add Terrific Tape to the backside of each end of the Vellum. I remove the release paper and line up my sentiment where I want it then wrap each end around the panel and adhere it to the back.

I now take the biggest layering die from the Master Layouts 2 Die Set and cut out of Passionate Pink Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I then add Terrific Tape to the back of my blended panel and adhere onto the pink layering cardstock.

Next, I place a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of White Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score it at 4 1/4" creating a side folding card base. I add Foam Tape to the back of my panel and mount it onto the white card base.

Using my Jewel Picker I scatter and add Dew Drops with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. This technique gives a soft beautiful look to this very simple card, it almost reminds me of patterned paper! To make this technique even more simple, you could blend the white pigment ink directly over colored cardstock instead of creating a blended background. I opted for the blended background as I wanted to create different shades. I hope you give this technique a try for yourself, it really is fun! Just remember not to contaminate your pigment pad as I did!!

Shadow Stamping With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog!! ***I wanted to let everyone know that Scrapbook.com has kicked off Freebie February!! Every couple of days they will be offering free items along with great sales! Check often as the sales will be frequently changing. I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
