Hello, welcome to my blog!!
I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!
Today I am using a line art image called Delightful Blooms from Gina K. Designs. I will be heat embossing this detailed image as my focal point without any coloring. Instead I will be doing some simple ink blending to highlight my image. I wanted to create a card using a detailed stamp showing that you don't always have to color these images, sometimes they look great on their own. All of the cardstock, ink and stamps I use today are from Gina K. Designs. Let's Get Started!!
I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.
To start, I use the biggest stitched die from the Master Layouts 2 Die Set and cut out of Kraft Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I then add a small amount of Adhesive Dot Runner to the back of the panel then place it into the center of my MISTI Stamp Positioner. I prep the panel with my Anti Static Powder Bag then choose an image from the Delightful Blooms Stamp Set and position it over the panel. I then stamp the image using Versamark Ink, add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.
Using my Blending Brushes, I blend Kraft Ink around the edges of the panel and fading out towards the center. I then blend Warm Cocoa Ink around the edges, again fading out towards the center. To add some contrast, I blend In The Navy Ink around the edges and corners fading in a bit making sure not to cover the entire previous color.
To add a little texture to the panel, I splatter Warm Cocoa Ink and In The Navy Ink using a small paintbrush.
After all of the splatters are dry I place the panel into my MISTI. Choosing a sentiment from the Delightful Blooms Stamp Set I stamp it onto the panel using Amalgam Obsidian Black Ink.
I now take the second biggest die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and cut out of In The Navy Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I add Terrific Tape and adhere my blended panel onto the blue panel.
Next, I place a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of Kraft Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score it at 5 1/2" creating a top folding card base. For a little dimension, I add Foam Tape to the back of my panel and adhere it onto the card base.
Using my Jewel Picker I scatter a few Dew Drops and adhere them with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.
I hope you enjoyed today's card. I know detailed stamps can be intimidating to some, but they don't always have to be colored. I love taking these stamps to create backrgounds or add some simple ink blending as I did with today's card. My thoughts were to add only brown tones to my card, but as I was choosing my darkest color to blend I decided to go with a dark blue. I love the results and contrast the blue ink gave to this card! Don't be afraid to experiment with colors, sometimes the unexpected colors give the best results!!
