Alcohol Ink - Sending Love

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

Today I have a card geared towards Valentine's Day but could also be sent for any occasion to let someone know you are thinking of them. I will be creating an alcohol inked background for my focal image. I will also use gold embossing powder on my greeting and accent piece that will go with the gold alloy from my alcohol ink background to pull everything together. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start I cut a piece of Yupo Heavystock in half using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then add Blending Solution to the panel. I add several drops of Deception Pearl Alcohol Ink and a few drops of Gilded Alloy Alcohol Ink. To help break up the Gilded Alloy I add a little Blending Solution over the three drops. Next, I take my Air Blower and move the inks around to cover the panel then set it aside to dry while I work on my card.

I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" panel out of White Cardstock using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer then lightly mist it with my Distress Sprayer filled with clean water. I then place the panel into my Sunburst 3D Embossing Folder and run it through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. *Be sure to check your die cut sandwich order when using 3D embossing folders. Next, I cut a 3 3/4" x 5" piece of Double Sided Adhesive Foam and adhere it to the back of my panel then mount it onto a Red Velvet Cardstock card base. *Lightly misting the cardstock panel with water before placing into a 3D folder helps prevent the cardstock from cracking.

Now that my inked panel is dry I use the fourth biggest die from the Infinity Hearts Die Set and cut out of my panel, running them through my Big Shot. I then take the third biggest die from the Infinity Hearts Die Set and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. Next, I take the white heart die cut and press my Versamark Ink Pad over all the edges of the heart, add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

Using Double Sided Tape I offset and adhere the two heart die cuts together. I then add Foam Tape to the back of the die cuts and mount onto my card front.

Next, I take a die from the Phrase Builder - Sending Die Set and cut out of White Cardstock. I take the coordinating shadow die from the same set and cut out of Vellum, running them both through my Big Shot. *When using intricate dies I place a Metal Adaptor Plate under the bottom cutting plate of my die cut machine.

To create a metallic look to the greeting I press my Versamark Ink Pad over the entire word die cut, add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. Using Liquid Glue I add very small dots to the back of my word die cut then adhere over the Vellum shadow die cut. I add very small dots of Liquid Glue to the back of the shadow die cut behind the letters and adhere over center of the heart on my card front.

For my sentiment I place a piece of Red Velvet Cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Tool. I then choose a sentiment from the Sentiment Strips 2 Stamp Set and stamp it onto the cardstock using Versamark Ink. I add White Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

I use my Guillotine Paper Trimmer to cut a thin strip and trim down the ends. I then take three thin strips of the same red cardstock to stack and glue them to the back of my sentiment strip using Liquid Glue. I leave the right end of my sentiment strip unstacked with the cardstock strips as this end will lay over my greeting. I then add Liquid Glue to the back of my sentiment strip and mount it just under my greeting.

For a few added elements I take the hearts die from the Stitched Ornaments Die Set and cut out of the leftover alcohol ink background I created earlier, running them through my Big Shot. Using my Jewel Picker I add three of the hearts to the front of the card using Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card, I love how it all came together! Creating alcohol ink backgrounds is so much fun and the alloy alcohol ink gives such beautiful results! The pearl alcohol ink gives off a beautiful shimmer on it's own and the gold alloy adds a stunning leafing effect. I didn't have any gold metallic cardstock on hand so I turned to my gold embossing powder to create a similar metallic look. Using embossing powders to create metallic cardstock is inexpensive and a great way to improvise when you don't have the actual metallic cardstock on hand.

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
