Today I have a bright, cheerful card meant to encourage someone going through a difficult time. What better way to cheer someone up than sending them a card with bright rainbow colors! I will using a chevron background die that cuts thick and thin layers and I will be doing some faded ink blending on the thin pieces to add some color. There is also a rubber stamp that coordinates with this background die (available separately), however, I will be using the die on its own for today's card. I will also be using a stamp set that is filled with lots of encouraging sentiments that also has coordinating dies (available separately) to cut out the larger sentiments. (*dies were gifted to me) For my ink blending I will be using regular Distress Inks to create a rainbow of colors. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take the Nested Chevron Die and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I use my Tool N One to carefully remove the pieces keeping them in order. I then separate the thinner pieces from the thicker pieces.

To keep a clean edge so that everything lines up tight, I take my Sanding Block and gently run it across the edges of any piece that has "hairs" hanging from them to remove them. Sometimes die cuts are left with little cardstock remnants after running through die cut machines and these sanding blocks work great to remove them.

Starting with the tiny triangle piece at the top of the thin die cut pieces, I use my Blending Brush to blend Picked Raspberry Distress Ink onto it. I then blend Kitch Flamingo Distress Ink onto the next piece at the bottom point and fade out to white as I blend upwards. I then blend Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink onto the next piece, again at the bottom point and fade the ink out as I blend up. I continue my ink blending with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink, Twisted Citron Distress Ink, Salty Ocean Distress Ink, Wilted Violet Distress Ink until each piece is colored, ending with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink on the tiny bottom corner pieces.

Next, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of White Cardstock with my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Using Liquid Glue I start adhering the chevron pieces to the panel. The easiest way I found to adhere the pieces so that everything is centered correctly, is to start with the thick piece that has corners on each end. I add Liquid Glue to the back of this piece then adhere it onto the panel making sure the ends line up to the corners. Next, I glue down my thin orange piece making sure it is snug up against the previous piece. I then add the next in line thick white die cut piece and glue it down right above the orange die cut and press it into place.

I continue this process until all of the pieces are filled in at the top of the panel. I then start gluing the remainder of the die cut pieces going down the panel using Liquid Glue. By starting with that first corner ended die cut piece, it served as a guide ensuring everything lined up just right.

Using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer, I cut off 1/8" from all four sides of my panel. I then place a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of Key Lime Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score it at 5 1/2" creating a top folding card base. Using Liquid Glue I adhere my panel onto the card base.

Next, I place a piece of White Cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner. I then choose a sentiment from the You Got This Stamp Set and stamp it onto my panel using Versafine Claire Nocturn Ink. I then take the coordinating die from the You Got This Die Set and cut my sentiment out, running them through my Big Shot.

Using the same die from the You Got This Die Set I cut out of White Cardstock four times, running them through my Big Shot. I then stack and glue the die cut pieces together with the sentiment on top using Liquid Glue. **The reason I cut the extra white die cuts is I wanted to add dimension the my sentiment. Because I will be adhering it to a mostly white background I wanted it to stand out more and not get lost. I am posting these two photos to show what the sentiment would look like if it were mounted on it's own vs the dimension the stacked die cuts give. You can see how much better the sentiment stands out with dies stacked behind, it really gives a solid look, almost like chipboard.

Next, I take a small scrap of White Cardstock and place it into my MISTI. I choose another sentiment from the same You Got This Stamp Set and stamp it using Versafine Claire Nocturn Ink. I then use the coordinating die from the You Got This Die Set and cut it out, running them through my Big Shot.

I now add Liquid Glue to the back of my stacked sentiment and adhere it to my card front using my T-Ruler to help line it up. I then add Liquid Glue to the back of my thin sentiment and adhere it just below.

Using my Jewel Picker I add a few Clear Round Drops with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I love the way today's card turned out and cannot wait to get it sent off to a friend who could use a little encouragement! I think adding foam tape to the back of the thicker white pieces so that the color looked inset would have given this card a great look also! By changing the sentiments and colors to all pink or all blue this would make a great baby card. For a bolder look, the thicker pieces could have been ink blended and the thin pieces could have been left white... such a versatile die!!

I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
