For today's card I will be using another of my previously created alcohol inked panels. While I have my inks out I like to create lots of panels then save them for future cards... OK, that's not entirely true. When I have my inks out I cannot stop myself, I always think "one more panel" and end up with so many extras!! Ha!! I have several of these panels that I hope to use up in the coming weeks. I've seen several people emboss on Yupo paper, I myself have shied away from it as it has always intimidated me!! Yupo paper is a synthetic plastic and I always had issues with almost melting it trying to get the embossing powder to melt. Well, today I decided to go for it! The key is to make sure the heat tool is good and hot before bringing it to the Yupo. I found the best results were achieved when I used very short bursts of heat to melt the powder. While this took a little extra time to emboss, it saved the Yupo from melting. My panel did warp a bit so I decided to use full sheet adhesive so that all areas of the panel would be adhered and this ended up working great! I will be using a butterfly stamp set, only using the detail stamps from this set. I didn't want to cover up too much of my alcohol inked background so I thought these would work perfect. I wanted to bring out the beautiful alloy in this panel so I chose to accent with gold embossing and elements. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start I take the second biggest die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and cut out of a previously created alcohol inked panel, running them through my Big Shot. I then place the panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Tool. Taking an image from the More Brilliant Butterflies Stamp Set I line it up onto the center of my panel and stamp it using Versamark Ink. Next, I take another image from the More Brilliant Butterflies Stamp Set, center it just above the previous image and stamp it onto my panel using Versamark Ink. To finish my stamping, I centered the same image onto the lower section of my panel and stamp it using Versamark Ink. I remove the panel and add Gold Embossing Powder to all three images then heat set with my Heat Tool. ***I found it very important to let my heat tool warm up for about 30 seconds until it was very hot. I heat the panel with short spurts of heat then pull the heat away. I repeated the hot spurts of heat until the powder melted then moved on to another area until my embossing was complete.

Taking my Fancy Thanks Die I cut out of White Cardstock three times and once out of Gold Mirror Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I then stack and glue the die cuts together ending with the gold die cut on top using Liquid Glue. *When using intricate dies, I place a Metal Adaptor Plate under the bottom cutting plate of my die cut machine.

Next, I cut a 1 1/4" x 4 1/4" piece out of Vellum using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then place it into my Scor Buddy and score it at 5/8". I temporarily layout my vellum band and mark with a pencil on the right side to help center my sentiment. *When creating a vellum band for my cards I like to score one end so I have a straight fold. This helps later when I adhere it to the panel to ensure it lines up straight across.

I now place the Vellum band into my MISTI and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Tool. I temporarily center my stacked greeting over the vellum to figure out my stamp placement. I then choose a sentiment from the Wild Flora Stamp Set and line it up under the greeting. I remove the die cut the stamp the sentiment onto the Vellum using Versamark Ink, add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

To adhere the Vellum band onto my panel, I add Double Sided Tape to the scored end and wrap it around the panel adhering it to the back side. I then add Double Sided Tape to the right end of the band and wrap it around the panel and adhere to the back.

Next, I took the layering die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. To pull in a little gold accent I press my Versamark Ink Pad onto all four sides of the panel then added Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

You can see how my panel warped while it was heat embossed. To make my panel lie as flat as possible, I cut a piece of Double Sided Adhesive Sheet to just slightly smaller in size than my panel using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I remove one side of the adhesive and adhere it onto the back of my panel. Once in place I used my Bone Folder to rub across the adhesive sheet to create a strong bond. I then remove the other piece of release paper and adhere my panel onto the gold edged panel I created. I again rub my Bone Folder over the entire panel to create a strong bond.

For added dimension and to help further flatten my panel I add a Double Sided Adhesive Sheet to the front and back side of a Foam piece cut to size. I remove the release paper and adhered the Foam to the back of my layered panel. I then removed the release paper on the other side and mount my panel onto a white card base. Using Liquid Glue I adhere my stacked greeting die cut onto the Vellum band just above the sentiment. I placed an acrylic block on top of the die cut until the glue sets.

To finish, I use my Jewel Picker to add some Soft Ivory Pearls with Liquid Glue to the card front and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card, I love the results of using gold embossing and dies to pull this card together. The deep jewel tones of the alcohol ink along with the gold alloy really gives this card a rich, elegant look. Now that I'm over the fear of embossing on Yupo, I can't wait to come up with more cards using this technique!!

I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

3D Peony Bundle Embossing Folder W/Oxide Inks

Hello, welcome to my blog!!  I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!! I'm back!!! For those of you that don't know, I took a couple of weeks off to spend some time with my brand new grand babies!! We were blessed with two more grandsons (who are cousins, their dads are brothers!) that were born only two days apart! We now have three grandsons and one granddaughter and feel so blessed!! Today I am using Distress Oxide inks to watercolor a 3D embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp. I was blown away by the detail of this embossing folder and knew right away that I wanted to watercolor something soft. Having all of these raised areas to color made watercoloring so simple and really took little effort. With all of the dimension of the 3D effect it is easy
