Peaceful Violets - Ink Blending

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!

Today's card is made using a beautiful stamp set called Peaceful Violets from Gina K. Designs, which is now back in stock! This set includes a large floral cluster along with several small flowers and leafy stems that can be used to create your own arrangements, also included are beautiful sentiments. There are coordinating dies for the images of this set also available for purchase. This is a great set for all coloring mediums, and today I will be using blending brushes to quickly and easily color this image giving soft blended results. I will also be using a word die that is part of the newest card kit available, as well as a die from the Master Layouts 4 die set. All of the stamps, dies, ink and cardstock I use today are from Gina K. Designs. Let's get started!!

I will doing all of my work today on the Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I place a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of White Cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I then take the largest image from the Peaceful Violets Stamp Set and stamp it onto my panel using Versamark Ink. I then add White Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

Taking my Blending Brushes, I start blending Lemon Drop Ink onto the centers of each of the flower images. I then blend Lovely Lavender Ink onto the petals of each flower, being careful not to cover up the yellow ink.

To add a bit of contrast and shading, I blend Wild Wisteria Ink to the petals of each flower. I then blend Wild Dandelion Ink to the centers of each flower to intensify the color a bit.

For each of the leaves I blend Applemint Ink. I then blend Grass Green Ink to the ends of each leaf for some contrast. To intensify the color of the flowers a bit, I blend a little more Wild Wisteria Ink and this completes my ink blending.

Next, I take the coordinating die from the Peaceful Violets Die Set and cut out my image, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine.

I want my greeting to coordinate with my flowers so I take a piece of White Cardstock and blend Wild Wisteria Ink onto it. I blend the ink enough that it is a bit darker than my flowers to make it stand out a little more. I then take the "forever" die from the Forever Flowers Card Kit and cut out of my blended piece, running them through my Big Shot.

Using the same die, I cut out of White Cardstock two times then take the coordinating shadow die and cut out of White Cardstock, running them all through my Big Shot. Using Liquid Glue I stack and glue the white die cuts together then glue the blended die cut on top. To finish, I adhere the stacked dies onto the shadow die with Liquid Glue.

I now take the large scallop rectangle die from the Master Layouts 4 Die Set and cut out of White Cardstock running them through my Big Shot. I then place the scallop panel into my MISTI to stamp a sentiment. Next, I arranged the blended piece along with the stacked greeting over the panel. I then chose a sentiment from the Peaceful Violets Stamp Set and determined where I wanted to stamp my sentiment. Next, I remove the die cuts and stamped my sentiment using Amalgam Obsidian Black Ink.

To create a card base I place a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Lemon Yellow Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score it at 4 1/4" creating a side folding card base. I then add Foam Tape to the back of my panel and mount it onto the card base.

To attach my blended piece I add Foam Tape to the back then center it over the scallop panel and adhere. I add Liquid Glue to the back of the top portion of my die cut greeting and place a small piece of Foam Tape to the bottom of the greeting then adhere it over the bottom of the floral image, just above the sentiment.

To finish I use my Jewel Picker to adhere some Dew Drops with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. I love how quickly this card came together by using ink blending to color the detailed image. This set would also be great for watercoloring, Copic coloring or colored pencil coloring... so many options! The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
