Floral Doodles - All Die Cuts Card

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!

Today I have a card that is made up of all die cuts, no stamping! While I love stamped images, I also love die cutting and with so many beautiful die cuts available I thought I would create a card using images, backgrounds, frames and word die cuts. To create backgrounds for my images, I will play around with some alcohol inks that I will die cut from. I love alcohol inks to create backgrounds so I thought I would stretch this technique to use for my focal images. For other shading on some of my die cuts I will be blending using regula Distress Inks. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take a piece of Yupo Cardstock and put down some Blending Solution. I then add a few drops of Peach Bellini Alcohol Ink and Flamingo Alcohol Ink to my panel. I then use my Air Blower to move the ink around until I am happy with the results.

Next, I take another piece of Yupo Cardstock and add Blending Solution to it. I then add a few drops of Citrus Alcohol Ink and Moss Alcohol Ink to the panel. Again, I use my Air Blower to move the ink around on the panel until I am satisfied with the results. To add a little texture and interest to the panel, I take a small paintbrush dipped in Isopropyl Alcohol and spatter it over the panel. This reacts with the alcohol ink creating the look of droplets. I repeat this for my pink panel as well then set them aside to dry while I work on the rest of my card.

To create a background for my card I cut a piece of Double Sided Adhesive Sheet to be 4 1/2" x 5 3/4" using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I also cut a piece of Vellum to the same size. I then peel off the release paper of one side of the Double Sided Adhesive Sheet and adhere my Vellum onto the adhesive. Next, I take the Layered Geo Cover Die B and place it over the Vellum then run them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I remove the release paper from the back side and adhere my die cut onto a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of White Cardstock. *Because vellum is difficult to adhere without the adhesive showing through, using these double sided adhesive sheets gives full coverage and is perfect for adhering vellum so that no adhesive shows through. *When using intricate dies, I place a Metal Adaptor Plate under the bottom cutting plate of my die cut machine.

Next, I take a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of White Cardstock and using my Blending Brush I blend Abandoned Coral Distress Ink lightly around all four sides of the panel. I then take the biggest rectangle die from the Stitched Scallop Rectangles Die Set and cut out of my blended panel, running them through my Big Shot.

This die cuts two frames that can be used separate or together. I want to create a double scallop frame so I flip the two frames over and nest them together (the way they were cut) and use some narrow washi tape from my stash to adhere over the areas where the frames meet to hold them together, I now have one frame.

I decided that I want my frames to have a little dimension so I use the same die and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I then use Liquid Glue to adhere the white frames behind my ink blended frames. I then add Liquid Glue to the back and center them over my vellum panel and adhere down.

I now go back to my alcohol inked panels and use the solid floral dies from the Floral Doodles Die Set to cut three images out of the panel, running them through my Big Shot. I then take the coordinating outline dies from the same set and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. Using Liquid Glue I adhere the outlines onto the solid pieces. To make the outlines stand out a bit more I die cut another layer and glue on top.

For the green alcohol inked panel, I take the solid leaf dies from the Floral Doodles Die Set and cut out of the panel, running them through my Big Shot. I then take the coordinating outline dies and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. Using Liquid Glue I adhere the outline die cuts onto the solid pieces. I end up die cutting another layer of outline images and glue them on top to make the outlines stand out more.

Using Liquid Glue I start adhering my flowers onto my card front. For the third and biggest flower I add two layers of Foam Tape to the back then mount it onto my card front.

I now start adhering my leaf die cuts. I add Liquid Glue to the back then tuck them behind the flowers and adhere them down.

For my greeting, I take a scrap piece of White Cardstock and blend Abandoned Coral Distress Ink using my Blending Brush. This time I blend the ink a little darker so that the greeting will stand out from the frame. I then take my Fancy Thanks Die and cut out of this ink blended piece, running them through my Big Shot. I use this same die and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. Using Liquid Glue I stack and glue the die cuts together with the ink blended piece on top. I then add Liquid Glue to the back of the stacked die cut and adhere it onto my card front just above the frame and tucking under the biggest flower.

To finish, I use Liquid Glue to adhere my card front onto an A2 side folding White Cardstock card base then use my Jewel Picker to add some Raindrops with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card and learned how fun and easy it is to create a card using only die cuts! I was surprised how well the Abandoned Coral Distress ink complimented the alcohol ink colors. By using a light hand with the blending I was able to create a soft coral color for the frame and using a heavier hand I was able to create a darker shade with the greeting, keeping all of the colors in the same color palette. When wanting to add a little something to a plain white background, try a cover plate cut out of vellum. The vellum creates a soft subtle look that adds just a little interest, breaking up the stark white.

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
