Sending You Hugs - Mirror Image

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

Today I have a fun shaker card with a Valentines theme! I use a stencil to decorate the front of the card and  also used it for the background of the shaker window that is filled with fun little heart elements. The stencil I use is a narrow stencil, read through my blog where I will show you how I turn it into a stencil that fills the entire front of my card. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I prep a White Cardstock panel with my Anti Static Powder Bag then place my Flourish Stencil over the top of it and tape them down to my work surface using Purple Tape. Using my White Pigment Ink pad, I press the pad down on the top of the stencil and onto the cardstock making sure to get good ink coverage into the open areas. I then carefully remove the stencil and add White Embossing Powder then heat set with my Heat Tool.

Next, I take my Blender Brush and blend Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink over the embossed image of my panel. I then take the fourth biggest die from the Infinity Hearts Die Set and cut out of my embossed panel, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. To add a little shading to my die cut, I blend more of the Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink around the edges.

Using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer, I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" panel out of Red Velvet Cardstock. Using the same Flourish Stencil I place it over half of the red panel. Using a Blender Brush (that I dedicate only to my pigment ink), I blend White Pigment Ink over the stencil covering the first half of my panel. Next, I clean off the stencil then flip it over to the back side and line up the edges of the image from my previous blend and tape it down. I then blend the White Pigment Ink onto the rest of the panel. When my blending is done I remove the stencil. I now have a complete design on my card front. Even though this was a narrow stencil, I was able to use the reverse side to mirror image my first blend and create a stenciled image on the entire panel.

I set my panel aside to dry while I work on the rest of the card. Taking the third and the fourth biggest dies from the Infinity Hearts Die Set I flip them over cut side down then center them together and place Purple Tape over them to keep them in place. I then cut out of Kraft Cardstock six times, running them through my Big Shot.

Using Liquid Glue I stack and glue five of the die cuts together. I save the sixth one that I will use in the next couple of steps. Using the third biggest die from the Infinity Hearts Die Set (this is the bigger die from the heart frame I created) I cut out of a piece of Acetate, running them through my Big Shot. Using Liquid Glue, I add a thin line of glue around the top of the stacked heart die then place the Acetate heart over the glue and press down to adhere. I then add another thin line of glue over the outer edge of the acetate and adhere the sixth heart frame on top. This will be my shaker window.

I now take the pink embossed heart and adhere it to the front of the red stenciled panel using Double Sided Tape. I then glue down some of the shaker elements I will be using. I like to do this so that some of the pieces are always visible instead of falling to the bottom of the shaker window. I then pour some more of the Heart Mix onto the pink heart. Next, I add Liquid Glue to the bottom heart of my shaker frame then line it up around the pink heart and place an acrylic block over the top until the glue sets.

Taking a die from the Phrase Builder-Sending Die Set I cut two times out of Red Velvet Cardstock. I also use the coordinating shadow die and cut out of Vellum, running them both through my Big Shot. Using Liquid Glue I stack and glue the die cuts together then add small dots of Liquid Glue to the bottom of the die cut and adhere to the Vellum shadow. To mount the die cut onto the card I add a small amount of Liquid Glue behind the bottom of the "h" and behind the "s" then mount it to the lower portion of the heart frame.

Next, using my MISTI Stamp Positioner, I stamp a sentiment from the Love Stamp Set onto a piece of White Cardstock using Versafine Clair Nocturn Ink. I trim the sentiment down to a thin strip with my Guillotine Paper Trimmer and angle cut both ends. For a little dimension I cut some thin scrap strips of white cardstock then stack and glue them to the back of my sentiment then glue it just under my die cut greeting using Liquid Glue. I mount my panel onto a Kraft Cardstock card base using Double Sided Tape and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card and learned a couple new tips. The stencil I used today is one of my favorites and I was happy I was able to use it for a full card front. I love the results it gives, it almost looks like it was stamped! Using white pigment ink is a great way to add a soft look to colored cardstock and is great for heat embossing as well. Come back on Friday for another fun card project!

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
