Today I am playing with alcohol inks to create a background that I will use on a fun shaker card. I started out thinking I would make a couple of panels then decide which I will use for today's card. Well, I ended up using up an entire pack of Yupo paper!! Once I get started with alcohol inks, I cannot stop!! It is so addicting for me! Most of today's card consists of die cutting, I will show you how I use my infinity rectangle dies to build up the walls for my shaker bits. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take a piece of Yupo Paper and add some Blending Solution across it. I then add some drops of Gilded Alloy Alcohol Ink. Next, I add drops of Laguna Alcohol Ink and Purple Twilight Alcohol Ink. Using my Air Blower, I move the ink around pushing it back and forth until I am satisfied with the look and the panel is covered. I set the panel aside to completely dry while I work on the rest of my card.

I wanted to show what my Glass Mat looks like when I'm done. I cannot state how much I love this glass mat! To clean up the runoff ink I applied some isopropyl alcohol over the ink then wiped it up with a paper towel. I then took a cotton ball with alcohol to cleaned up the rest then wiped down with a wet rag. Hand sanitizer works great for clean up as well. I had to use my xacto knife to cut a section of one of my die cuts and cut right on the glass mat, so convenient!

Taking the third and fifth biggest dies from my Infinity Rectangle Die Set, space them evenly apart then use Purple Tape to hold them together. I cut five frames out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Using Liquid Glue I stack and glue the frames together. *I end up die cutting one more frame that isn't in the picture.

Next, I take my Botanical Rectangle dies and cut out two of each design from White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. Using Liquid Glue I stack and glue them together. *When using intricate dies I place a Metal Adaptor Plate under the bottom cutting plate of my die cut machine.

Using the third biggest die from the Infinity Rectangle Die Set I cut out of my alcohol inked panel as well as a piece of Acetate, running them through my Big Shot. *The die I used here is the bigger one from the frame I formed.

Using Liquid Glue I add a thin line to the top of all four sides of the stacked dies then glue the last frame over the acetate. Next, I turn the acetate frame over and add some Clear Crystal Shaker Elements to the inside of the frame. I then add Double Sided Tape to all four sides of the frame then place the alcohol inked panel over it and press all around the frame to secure. This is my preferred method of creating shaker windows instead of foam tape. Stacked dies provide stable sides and there is no need to cut thin strips of foam tape.

I now take the thin botanical frames and lay them over the corners of the window to figure out my placement. I want them to sit inside the frame so I trim off the extra ends. I then add very small dots of Liquid Glue to the backs and press them into the corners. The die with the flower overhangs the frame a bit, I just make sure the thin ends are glued down to the inside of the frame and the overhang will glue down to the outside of the frame.

Next, I place a piece of White Cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I then stamp a sentiment from the Sentiment Strips 2 Stamp Set using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink. I then add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. *Using a black ink under gold embossing powder gives a slightly different look, maybe a bit darker?

Using a die from the Sentiment Banners Die Set I cut out my sentiment, running them through my Big Shot. I use my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer to trim off the right side of the banner strip. I add Liquid Glue to the back of the sentiment and adhere to the front of my acetate window butting it up to the right side.

I add Double Sided Tape to the back of my shaker window and mount onto a side folding Lovely Lavender Cardstock card base, and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card! I love the look of alcohol inks with the alloys, I will never get bored with alcohol inks... every panel is unique and can never be duplicated. I have both the gilded and sterling alloys and find that out of these two the gilded breaks apart and gives the best "leafing" effect. In my opinion the sterling breaks apart a bit less and gives more of a shimmery look. I need to purchase the other colors and try them out soon!

3D Peony Bundle Embossing Folder W/Oxide Inks

Hello, welcome to my blog!!  I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!! I'm back!!! For those of you that don't know, I took a couple of weeks off to spend some time with my brand new grand babies!! We were blessed with two more grandsons (who are cousins, their dads are brothers!) that were born only two days apart! We now have three grandsons and one granddaughter and feel so blessed!! Today I am using Distress Oxide inks to watercolor a 3D embossing folder from Simon Says Stamp. I was blown away by the detail of this embossing folder and knew right away that I wanted to watercolor something soft. Having all of these raised areas to color made watercoloring so simple and really took little effort. With all of the dimension of the 3D effect it is easy...
