Happy Holidays - Ornamental Snowflakes

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!!

Today, I have a simple stamped card featuring the Ornamental Snowflakes stamp set from Gina K. Designs. This is a beautiful stamp set that includes three very intricate detailed snowflake images along with pieces that turn these snowflakes into ornaments as well as three beautiful greetings. This is a wonderful set that gives off a bit of a vintage Christmas feel. I thought these snowflakes would look beautiful hanging from a tree branch so I took the pine image from the Fruit Of The Season (also GK) to create a pine bough to hang my ornaments from. All of the stamps, ink and cardstock I use today are from Gina K. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/4" panel out of White Cardstock using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Taking the pine stamp from the Fruit Of The Season Stamp Set, I place it on an Acrylic Block and stamp it towards the top left corner of my panel using Fresh Asparagus Ink. I then ink up the stamp again, this time I use my finger to remove the ink from the "stem" part of the pine and stamp it coming off of the previous image. I repeat this process until I have the look of a pine branch. *I like to remove the ink from the stem part of the pine to give it more of a realistic look where the pines joins each other.

I now take the biggest stitched die from the Master Layouts 2 Die Set and cut out of my panel, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I line the die up over the panel so that the pine branch is coming out of the top left corner.

Next, I prep the lower portion of my panel with my Anti Static Powder Bag and stamp an image from the Ornamental Snowflakes Stamp Set with Versamark Ink using and Acrylic Block. I then add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. To attach the image to the pine branch I stamp the ornament topper to the top of the snowflake image then stamp the string using Versamark Ink and heat set with my Heat Tool. Both of these images are from the Ornamental Snowflakes Stamp Set. I only wanted to stamp a portion of the string, just enough to reach into the pine image. To do this I mask off part of the stamp by placing a small post it note to the area of the string that I do not want to stamp. I ink up my stamp then remove the post it note before stamping onto my panel.

I now take the biggest layering die from the Master Layouts 2 Die Set and cut out of Kraft Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I add Terrific Tape to the back of my stamped panel and adhere it onto the kraft panel.

At this point I decided that I wanted to add another ornament to the open area of the lower left corner of my panel. (I mean, why wouldn't I have thought of this before mounting onto the kraft panel???!) I prep the area with my Anti Static Powder Bag and stamp a different image from the Ornamental Snowflakes Stamp Set with Versamark Ink, add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. I then stamp the topper and string as I did with the first ornament. ***To keep the ink from getting onto my kraft layer, I place a couple of small post it notes over the edges before stamping. I then removed the post it notes before adding the embossing powder and use a small paintbrush to remove any powder that may have stuck before heat setting.

Next, I place a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Plum Punch Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score at 4 1/4" creating a side folding card base. I then add Foam Tape to the back of my stamped panel and mount it onto my card base.

For my greeting, I place a piece of White Cardstock into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I then stamped a greeting from the Ornamental Snowflakes Stamp Set using Versamark Ink. I add Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool

Taking the smallest stitched circle from the Master Layouts 3 Die Set I cut out my greeting. I also take the smallest layering circle die from the same set and cut out of Plum Punch Cardstock, running them both through my Big Shot. Using Liquid Glue I adhere the two circle die cuts together. *Using liquid glue for this gives me a little time to slide the die cuts around a bit and get the edges evenly aligned.

To finish, I add Foam Tape to the back of my greeting and mount it onto my card front. I use my Jewel Picker to add Dazzling Diamond Rhinestones to the center of the ornaments with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. I seem to always go for the new stamp sets when creating my cards and forget about the sets I have from years ago. I forgot all about this pine stamp I had from an older set that is also from Gina K. I didn't think I would be able to come up with a design using only one stamp to create a pine branch, but this ONE stamp surprised me and was perfect for the job!! It's always fun to mix and match elements from different sets!

The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
