Today I have another card made with the Happy Flowers stamp set from Gina K. Designs brand new release. If you have not yet checked out this release you can find it HERE, it is fabulous!! Earlier this week I used this stamp set to create a watercolored image. For today's card I will not be coloring the image, I will show you how great a detailed line image looks over a blended background. I love having the versatility of a detailed image to use for different coloring mediums or to just stamp it on it's own over a colorful background. I chose a couple of bright, vibrant ink colors that fade out to the center of my panel leaving a white highlighted area. The two colored cardstocks I use are the coordinating ink colors. I love that all of Gina's ink colors have coordinating cardstocks! (with the exception of two colors, I believe) All of the inks, stamps, cardstock and dies I use on today's card are from Gina K. Designs. Let's get started!!
I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.
To start, I take the second largest die from the Master Layout 1 Die Set and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. Using my Blending Brushes I start by blending Key Lime Ink onto one end of the panel, keeping the ink heavier at the top and fade out to white towards the center of the panel. I then use a Blending Brush to blend Blue Raspberry Ink over the other end of the panel again keeping the ink heavier at the top and fade out to white towards the center. These two colors blend together beautifully, however, I wanted a soft white highlighted area in between.
Next, I place the blended panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and choose an image from the Happy Flowers Stamp Set, centering it over the panel. I then stamp the image using Amalgam Obsidian Ink and heat set with my Heat Tool.
I now take the largest layering die from the Master Layout 1 Die Set and cut out of Black Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. Using Terrific Tape I adhere my blended panel onto the black panel.
Next, I place a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Key Lime Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score it at 4 1/4" creating a side folding card base. I then add Foam Tape to the back of the panel and adhere it to the card base.
For my greeting I take the Enjoy And Shadow Die I use the word die to cut out of Blue Raspberry Cardstock two times and the shadow die to cut out of Vellum once. I then stack and glue the word die cuts together using Liquid Glue and glue them onto the Vellum die cut. Before adhering onto the card front I ended up cutting an extra word die cut to glue onto the the "back" of the Vellum die cut. By adding a die cut or two to the back, it gives a slight lift to the greeting so it isn't laying flat against the card. I now add Liquid Glue to the back of the greeting and glue it onto the card front. When using intricate dies I place a Metal Adaptor Plate under the bottom cutting plate of my die cut machine.
For my sentiment I place a scrap piece of Black Cardstock into my MISTI and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I then stamp a sentiment from the Enjoyable Greetings Stamp Set with Versamark Ink, add White Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.
Using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer I cut the sentiment to a thin strip. Next, I add Liquid Glue to the back of the sentiment and adhere it over the lower portion of my greeting.
I add a few Dew Drops with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.
I hope you enjoyed today's card. I love the contrast of the black ink against the vibrant colors and the simplicity of this card. Detailed images don't always have to be colored, I like that you have an option. You can use watercolors, Copic markers, colored pencils, watercolor markers or just stamp it and you are good to go! This would also be a good image to use with the alcohol lift ink technique. My purchase from Gina's new release should be here soon, watch for more cards made with her new products in the next weeks!
