Today I have another edge to edge shaker card featuring the Big Balloon Stencil. This stencil is great for creating birthday or celebration cards. The large balloon takes up most of an A2 panel making it perfect for creating a quick and easy birthday card. I will be using dye inks from Gina K. Designs for my ink blending that dry to a nice soft even ink blending. To give a realistic look I will be fading the ink out a bit towards the center of each balloon to give highlights. I will also bring in different colors of balloons around the center focal image giving the illusion of a room full of floating balloons and finish off by adding some confetti sequins to fill my shaker pocket. This is a super fun and quick card to make and love how it turned out! Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel out of White Cardstock using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then add Adhesive Dot Runner to the back of the panel to hold it down on my work surface. Taking the Big Balloon Stencil I place it over the top right corner of my panel and adhere it in place. There is a balloon string opening at the bottom of the stencil that I tape off to prevent any unwanted ink getting on my panel. I am first working on the balloons that will be in the background of my finished card. Using my Blending Brushes I blend Sweet Mango Ink and fade out towards the center of the balloon.

Before switching to the next color I remove any ink from the stencil with a soft cloth. Next, I adhere the stencil over the bottom right corner of my panel shifting it over to the left a bit. I then blend Key Lime Ink, fading out towards the center of the balloon.

I remove any ink from the stencil then adhere it over the top left corner of my panel. Using my Blending Brush I blend Wild Dandelion Ink, fading out towards the center of the balloon.

Again I remove any ink from the stencil and adhere it over the bottom left portion of the panel. I then blend Blue Raspberry Ink, fading out towards the center.

For the final balloon I remove any ink from the stencil then adhere it over the center of the panel, shifted up a bit. Using my Blending Brush I blend Passionate Pink Ink, fading out towards the center. I blend this color a little lighter over the center as this is where I will be stamping my greeting and want a bit of a highlight.

To create my balloon strings I take my Copic Multiliner Pen (any black marker would work) and draw some quick squiggly marks around the bottom of the three balloons. I then take my T-Square Ruler and use my pen do draw some straight strings. (wavy or swirly strings would also look great) Finally I draw some quick messy loops at the top of each string.

Using the second largest die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set I cut out of my panel, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine.

I now place the panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and center a greeting from the Fancy Greeting Stamp Set over the center balloon and stamp it with Versafine Nocturn Ink.

For my shaker piece, I take a piece of packaging and cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece using my Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then add Double Sided Adhesive to the back of my panel and place it face down over the packaging piece. I fold the packaging over the adhesive at the bottom and both sides. I do not adhere the top flap just yet.

Taking some confetti sequins from my stash and some Clear Crystals I add through the open end of my panel, you can add as much or as little as you'd like... I went a little overboard! I can now fold the top flap onto the adhesive, enclosing all of the shaker bits. Using my Micro Tip Scissors I trim off the corner overhang on each corner. *Before folding over the last flap, I shake the bits around some so that they are not all piled up. This helps the shaker panel to be more flat.

I now take the largest die from the Master Layouts 1 Die Set and cut out of Sweet Mango Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot.  I add Double Sided Adhesive to the back of the panel and adhere it to the mango panel.

Next, I place a 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" piece of White Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score it at 4 1/4" creating a side folding card base. Using Liquid Glue I add a piece of Fun Foam to the back of my panel.

I adhere the panel onto the card base using Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. I am having so much fun creating these edge to edge shaker cards and the best part is, you don't have to purchase any special products to make them! I have SO many sequins and shaker bits, now they can be put to use so quick and easily! I stamped my greeting on the inside of the panel and love that the shaker bits float over the top of it. Using die cut greetings on the outside of the shaker would also look great. This balloon stencil would be perfect for not only birthday cards, but so much more... graduation, retirement, wedding and would be so cute as a baby card!

I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
