Today I have a card made with the Sketched Flowers stamp set that is part of the brand new kit from Gina K. Designs which is still available. This is a beautiful stamp set with sketched designs along with some really gorgeous sentiments that combine script and block fonts together, I just love this look!! To add a little color variation and depth to these stamped images, I use a blending brush to add the darker ink to the stamps. This is a great way to create soft shading towards the center of the images. I feel like this technique combined with the design of these stamps give these images almost a watercolored look. This is such a beautiful stamp set!! All of the die cuts, stamps, inks, and cardstock are from Gina K. Designs. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take the rectangle die from the Master Layouts 5 Die Set and cut out of Ivory Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I place the panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner then choose a couple of images from the Sketched Flowers Stamp Set and stamp them using Lovely Lavender Ink.

To create some shading to the images, I use my Blending Brush to add Plum Punch Ink directly to the stamp at the base of petals then stamp it onto my panel. I repeat this step a few times to achieve the darkness I am looking for. I then repeat this process for the larger image.

For the centers of the flowers I line up the coordinating stamps from the same Sketched Flowers Stamp Set and stamp them using Honey Mustard Ink. I then use my Blending Brush to add Warm Cocoa Ink to the edge of the stamps and stamp the images a couple of times, creating a little shading. *These center images can be lined up but I chose to offset them a bit to give more of loose, watercolored look.

I now take the floral images and stamp them onto a piece of Masking Magic then fussy cut around the lower sections with my Micro Tip Scissors. I then line up the mask and place the it over my stamped images.

I now choose a stem image from the Sketched Flowers Stamp Set and stamp it a bit over the flower image using Fresh Asparagus Ink. I then add Dark Sage Ink to the very edge of the stamp to add some depth and stamp it over the previous color. I repeat these colors for the second stem also.

Next, I take the two leaf images from the Sketched Flowers Stamp Set and line them up over the stems. I stamp them with Fresh Asparagus Ink then add Dark Sage Ink to the base of the leaves and stamp over the previous color. I line up the two leaf stamps for the second flower, placing the higher leaf over the masked flower so it will appear to be behind the flower when the mask is removed. I stamp using the same colors as the previous leaves then remove the mask.

After removing the mask I decided to add another image to the panel. I trim around the top portion of my mask then replace it over my stamped images. I take the smaller flower image from the Sketched Flowers Stamp Set and use the same colors and process to stamp this image. I then take the stem and ink it with the same previous colors, inking it only at the top as only a small area will be showing and stamp it. I then remove the mask and my flowers are complete.

Next, I choose a sentiment from the Sketched Flowers Stamp Set and stamp it onto the lower left hand corner of the panel using Amalgam Obsidian Ink. To break up the white are of the background a bit I add a small amount of Black Soot Distress Paint onto my Glass Mat along with a small amount of water to thin it out a bit. I then pick up the paint with a small paintbrush and spatter it over my stamped panel. I set the panel aside for a few minutes allowing it to dry completely.

Next, I take the scallop die from the Master Layouts 4 Die Set and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. Once the ink spatters are completely dry on my panel, I adhere it onto the scalloped panel using Terrific Tape.

I now place a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Lovely Lavender Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score it at 4 1/4" creating a side folding card base. I add Foam Tape to the back of my panel and mount it onto the card base. I use my Jewel Picker to adhere a few Dew Drops to the front of my card with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. I love creating cards with simple stamping then adding details to step it up a bit, in this case layering. I LOVE the look of the ivory cardstock against white cardstock, something a little different. The look of the shaded inks, the design of the stamp set and muted colors of cardstock and ink, really gives this card such a soft, delicate look.

Shadow Stamping With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog!! ***I wanted to let everyone know that Scrapbook.com has kicked off Freebie February!! Every couple of days they will be offering free items along with great sales! Check often as the sales will be frequently changing. I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
