Sorry for my absence these last few days. The holiday weekend threw things off a bit then I came down with a stomach bug that took me out for a couple of days, but all is good now and I am back!

Today I have a special card geared to parents raising babies and young children. We've all had our times of doubts, sleepless nights, wondering if we are doing things right and if these days will ever end. Good news is YES, these trying times do get better!! Babies do not come with an owners manual and no one can prepare themselves for the unknown, we all learn as we grow. My kids are all grown up and on their own, some raising babies of their own. Though the trying times seem to never end at times, they do and believe it or not this season of life will be missed and be longed for again. I remember a quote that Gina K. posted a few years back, from her sweet dad... "The days are long, but the years are short". This quote is so true and one of my favorites... thank you for sharing with us Gina!!!  The stamp set I will be using is called Good Job Mama and is filled with many, many sentiments to go along with three larger greetings. There is also a die set available for this set that cuts out the three large greetings as well as the hearts. I will be scattering several of the small sentiments across my panel that coordinate with the greeting I chose for my focal image. I will be using inks from Gina K. Designs to create an Ombre blend over my background that will resist the embossed sentiments and highlight them. Let's get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start I take the large stitched rectangle from the Master Layouts 2 Die Set and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I then place the panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it with my Anti Static Powder Tool. Taking several sentiments from the Good Job Mama Stamp Set, I line them up and stagger them across my panel then pick them up with the door of my MISTI. Using Versamark Ink I stamp the sentiments onto my panel, add White Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

I place the panel back into my MISTI and take some of the previously stamped sentiments and line them up to fill the rest of the panel. Again, I stamp them with Versamark Ink, add White Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool.

Using my Blending Brush, I start by blending Sea Glass Ink onto the lower third of my panel and fade the ink out towards the center. I then blend Turquoise Sea Ink onto the center of my panel and fade out towards the top then blend back into the previous color a bit. Finally, I blend Blue Lagoon Ink onto the top portion of my panel, blending back into the previous color a bit. After my blending is complete I take a dry cloth and gently buff the embossed areas to remove any ink that my be sitting on it. *When blending colors I like to fade out each color towards where the next color will connect, then blend the next color back into that fade. I find this method to really help join the colors and create a soft blend.

I now take the large layering rectangle die from the Master Layouts 2 Die Set and cut out of Silver Glitter Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. Using Liquid Glue I adhere the two panels together.

Next, I take a die from the Stitched Circles Die Set and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I then place the die cut into my MISTI and prep with my Anti Static Powder Tool. Taking a greeting from the Good Job Mama Stamp Set I stamp it onto the die cut using Blue Lagoon Ink. I want this greeting to be embossed but want to keep the inks coordinating with my background. To achieve this I clean off my stamp then ink it up using Versamark Ink and stamp over my previously inked image. I then remove the die cut, add Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. Next, I place the die cut piece back into my MISTI and now stamp two hearts from the Good Job Mama Stamp Set using Sea Glass Ink. Again I use Versamark Ink and stamp over my previously inked image, add Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. *This is a great way to get colored embossing if you don't have colored embossing powder.

There is another greeting and a couple of sentiments that I want to use on this card. Before assembling my card, I place a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of White Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score it at 4 1/4" creating a side folding card base. I then place the card base into my MISTI to stamp some images from the Good Job Mama Stamp Set on the inside. To make sure I have everything lined up straight, I place a Grid Transparency over the inside of my card where I want to stamp. I line up my stamps over the lines then pick the stamps up with the lid of my MISTI and remove the transparency.

I ink up the greeting using Blue Lagoon Ink and stamp it onto the inside of my card. To change the ink color of the center image, I mask off by placing a sticky note onto the top and bottom stamps leaving only the center stamp exposed. I ink up the center stamp using Turquoise Sea Ink then remove the sticky notes and stamp the image. For the last image I use Sea Glass Ink to stamp it.

It's now time to assemble my card. I cut a 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" piece out of Fun Foam using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. Using Liquid Glue I adhere it onto the back of my panel then onto the card base.

Using the same circle die from the Stitched Circles Die Set I cut out of White Cardstock two times, running them through my Big Shot. I stack and glue the die cuts together then glue the stamped die cut on top using Liquid Glue. I then glue the greeting onto my card front.

To finish I use my Jewel Picker to add some Hearts with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today's card, it was a simple card to make but the encouraging, wonderful greetings and sentiments from this stamp set made this a special card to send to any overwhelmed parent to lift their spirits!! I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend! I won't be back until next Wednesday as I will be working on cards for Gina K. Designs' brand new release... she's got lot's of new goodies, including a brand new kit and a new Master Layouts die set!!

Shadow Stamping With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog!! ***I wanted to let everyone know that Scrapbook.com has kicked off Freebie February!! Every couple of days they will be offering free items along with great sales! Check often as the sales will be frequently changing. I have placed a store logo on the front page of my blog just down below my profile that brings you directly to their store!    *I know die cut machines can be a bigger investment, but if you are in need of one and looking for a good price, Scrapbook.com has some really good prices on Big Shots -  stand alone  machines and bundles.   Today's card project is similar to yesterday's blog post using the shadow stamping technique, but today, I will be using a stencil. I will be using kraft cardstock as well as black cardstock. This is a fun technique to use on any color of cardstock. I wanted to show the look on a light colored cardstock vs a dark color. The key to using any color of cardstock is to first lay down white pigment ink follo

Embossing With Stencils

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today's card project focuses on heat embossing with stencils. Stencils are great for ink blending and are economical. Did you know you can also heat emboss with your stencils? I am showing an example of white heat embossing, but you could also ink blend your stencil then heat emboss with clear embossing powder, if you don't mind getting your embossing pad dirty. Some people have a clean embossing pad dedicated for embossing only, and another embossing pad that they use for different techniques that may get the pad dirty. Let's get started!! To start, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white Neenah cardstock panel using my Tim Holtz Guillotine paper trimmer. I add Gina K. Designs Adhesive Dot Runner  to the corners on the back side of my white card panel to temporarily hold it down onto my Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat . Next, I prep my panel with my Anti Static powder bag. I then place my Gina K. Designs Water Droplets stencil
