Hello, welcome to my blog!!
I want to start out by thanking everyone for the support and nice comments you all leave for me. I truly appreciate the support of this blog!! I enjoy card making and bringing my creations to you, this wouldn't be possible without your support, so again, thank you!!
Today I have a very simple card for you using the third stamp set from the new Gina K. Designs card kit called Easter Blessings. This is a 4 x 6 stamp set that has a beautiful daffodil cluster along with lots of encouraging sentiments for Easter, Spring, Sympathy, Get Well and more! The daffodils are beautiful and would be perfect for any coloring technique but today I am going to emboss this image onto vellum and overlay it over a blended background to create a soft Easter card. All of the inks, cardstock and stamps used on today's card are from Gina K. Designs. Let's get started!!
I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.
To start I need to create a blended background. I take a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of White Cardstock and begin my blending with Bubble Gum Pink Ink, blending it onto the top left corner of my panel using my Blending Brush. I then blend Sweet Mango Ink and blend back into my previous color a bit. Next, I blend Lemon Drop Ink and again blend back into the previous color.
For the next color I take my Blending Brush and blend Applemint Ink and blend back a bit into the previous color. I complete my blending using Ocean Mist Ink followed by Lovely Lavender Ink. To soften the blended lines I go back through each color and blend over where each color meets.
Taking the large scalloped rectangle from the Master Layouts 4 Die Set I cut out of my blended panel, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine.
Next, I cut a 3 3/8" x 4 1/2" panel out of Vellum using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Paper Trimmer. I then place the Vellum panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and prep it using my Anti Static Powder Bag. Taking the image from the Easter Blessings Stamp Set I stamp it onto my panel using Versamark Ink. I then add White Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. *When embossing on vellum I like to heat the powder from the back side of the vellum. This helps prevent bits of the powder from blowing off the image.
I place the Vellum panel back into my MISTI and prep the top portion of the panel where I want to stamp a sentiment with my Anti Static Powder Bag. I then choose my sentiment from the Easter Blessings Stamp Set and stamp it onto the Vellum using Versamark Ink, add White Embossing Powder then heat set with my Heat Tool.
To adhere the Vellum onto my blended panel I use VERY small drops and lines of Liquid Glue to the back of the Vellum onto the thicker areas of the stamped image. I then centered the Vellum panel in between the stitched area of my blended panel and adhered down. I found that if I let the Liquid Glue sit after applying it to the vellum for a couple of minutes it didn't ooze out from the areas I applied it to when I adhered it down. For the corners and areas that did not have any glue I took a small scrap of cardstock and added a small amount of Liquid Glue to the corner of it then slid the cardstock piece just under the vellum to apply the glue to the VERY edge or corner of the vellum then pressed down to adhere. You don't need much glue at all to make the vellum stick. *Another way to add adhesive to the vellum so that it doesn't show through is to use an adhesive sheet that covers the entire back side of the vellum.
Next, I create a card base by placing a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of White Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score it at 4 1/4" creating a side folding card base. I then add Foam Tape to the back of my blended panel and mount it onto my card base.
I use my Jewel Picker to add a few Angel Aura Rhinestones with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.
I hope you enjoyed today's card. I really like the softness and simplicity I was able to create by embossing the image onto vellum and overlaying onto my blended background. I plan to watercolor this image in the near future but love the fact that a detailed stamp like this one doesn't always need coloring, it can be used quickly as a stamped image in black ink or embossed like I did with this card. This card could be used for any occasion by simply changing the sentiment!
